The new bikini for your holiday
Choosing a new bikini is a serious affair every year. And I can already reveal to the youngsters among us: this becomes a less enjoyable activity each year. Especially when suddenly very strange things are 'in' that really aren't suitable from a certain age.
The first bikini ever
It's almost unimaginable, but there was a time when bikinis didn't exist yet! The first one appeared in 1932 and was a two-piece wool swimsuit. The bottom partially covered the belly. It was named the Atome. It wasn't until 1946 that the two-piece swimsuit had a version where the navel was visible. It was named the bikini, after the island Bikini.
Initially, the bikini was not a success and was banned in many countries. Eventually, in 1953, in Spain!, in Benidorm, the bikini was allowed. Movie stars also gladly helped to make this little garment popular. And perhaps the song Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie rings a bell.
Here's still a spot available where you can sunbathe in your new bikini!
Bikini, Swimsuit, or Topless?
But enough history, back to the new bikini for your holiday! What do you choose? Do you want to cover your belly or almost nothing at all? Will it just be a bottom or a swimsuit? What color should it be? And what type of bikini, swimsuit, or tankini? Do you buy a new one every year? Or do you prefer the nude beach and need nothing at all?
Online or in a shop?
Do you try on bikinis in the city center or prefer shopping online? Online is nice because you can see at home with the right lighting if it fits well. But if the size isn't right, you have to start searching all over again. In a shop is convenient because you can find the right size more easily. But that lighting...!

Just a Top?
The strangest thing I recently came across: in the photo, there was a complete (cool!) bikini set, but you could only order the bikini top! Just the top? I can understand just the bottom, but only the top? Uh... can you go bottomless these days? Where do people do this?
The diaper bikini
Fortunately, you see this bikini less often now. Apparently, it wasn't such a success. For those with no clue: the bottom of this bikini consists of a string with two flaps that you can adjust to your liking. If you adjust it too much at the back, it looks like you're wearing a diaper. But maybe it's very comfortable and you can just relax on the beach as a bon vivant!
