My Sunweb family

A few weeks ago, I was watching Instagram stories with my son. With each story, he asked, "Who is that?" And what turned out to be the case? Almost everyone who appeared was a Sunweb colleague or a former Sunweb colleague. I have (had) so many colleagues! It was nice to take a moment to reflect on this and to briefly share something about every (ex-)colleague.

20 years ago, I walked into the Sunweb office. The atmosphere felt right immediately. Everyone worked really hard, but there was always time for a laugh. Twice a year, everyone went all out at a big party, and occasionally you went on a study trip. Super cool! At the parties and during the trips to Spain, Portugal, Greece, or wherever, it really became enjoyable! And over time, several colleagues became like family to me.

To start with, there are, of course, a lot of great-aunts and distant relatives whom I probably wouldn't recognize quickly on the street. There are also some family members with whom I occasionally have a chat, even though we don't even know each other's names.

Then there are my bonus cousins, the interns who stay for a short time but whom I still see occasionally on my timeline. It's really nice to see how they're doing after their internship with us.

Also important are my cousins. I find them absolutely fantastic! When I see them, it's always a laugh riot, and I'm very happy to have known them for so long.

There are also some really cool distant Sunweb family members at various Sunweb destinations. Through the study trips, holidays with Sunweb and working with colleagues who don't live in the Netherlands. Some of them I've only met abroad. And I always try to meet up with my Spanish family when I'm in the area.

And then, of course, I have a few sisters! Unfortunately, some have already left. But the ones who are still around, I know very very well, and I wouldn't want to miss them for the world. We know each other's habits, know what everyone loves or doesn't care for, and can precisely predict how someone will react to something. Over the years, I've spent so much time with them, and we've had lots of fun! I hear regularly from others: "You should never quit your job; what you have at Sunweb is very unique." Okay... here's to the next 20 years then!
