With love from Copenhagen

What a surprising city! Ok.. the sun was shining, and that makes it quickly enjoyable to wander around in another city. Rain or shine; in any case, this is my summary of why it's such a fun city!

Nyhavn

The must-see of Copenhagen! Those colorful houses with lively terraces in front create a super fun scene. Walk along the water, enjoy an ice cream and have a nice lunch. Hopefully, it isn't raining otherwise it would be one big, sad mess!

Food halls & street food

A food hall is always fun, and Copenhagen happens to have a few of them. The Tivoli Food Hall has something for everyone, and the atmosphere is cozy. The Torvehallerne are also very nice! Two covered market halls next to each other with all kinds of delicacies! Near Nyhavn, you can also choose the food trucks at Broens street food. And be sure to quickly grab a hot dog from one of the hot dog stands!

Shopping in Copenhagen

As you walk through the shopping street, it feels like you're just in the Netherlands. But what a super fun street. Different types of shops: from clothing to knick-knacks, and of course, the LEGO store cannot be missed here! If you’re a fan of games, or if the kids are with you, be sure to visit Skindergade, Jorcks Passage, where you’ll find all sorts of cool game and superhero stores.

Round Tower

In the middle of the shopping street, you’ll find The Round Tower, or Rundetaarn. For a few Kroner, you can go up. You have to walk, and it's fun! Be careful not to get dizzy. ;-) Once at the top, you have a beautiful view of all the towers the city has to offer. You can also rest here (hopefully in the sun) on a bench.

Christiansborg Palace

Impressive and right in the city! Here you can walk past the throne, through beautiful ballrooms, admire stunning tapestries, and measure the mega-large dining table. The library was my favorite! Gorgeous! With a bit of luck, a carriage with horses might pass by on its way to the stables, which you can also view from the inside!

The Little Mermaid

A bit outside the center, but of course, you have to see her! So: rent a bike and go! The route is quite nice, as you pass by all sorts of impressive warehouses and even a bit of nature. Good to know maybe: there's another one a bit closer to the center!

Walking, swimming, and sauna visit

Besides eating and doing fun things, you can also relax by walking along the water here. Don’t be surprised if someone suddenly takes a dive. That’s just normal here. What also turns out to be very common is visiting a sauna by the water and then occasionally cooling off in the fresh outdoor air totally naked.

Tivoli

This amusement park is right in the city and is hard to miss! Unfortunately, I visited Copenhagen in March, and the park was still closed. Still very cool that you can see the rides as you walk by. Hopefully, I’ll go there someday with my kids.

Church of our Saviour

Of course, on every destination, you must always save something cool for when you go back someday. Upon arrival at the impressive Church of our Saviour, there was a thunderstorm. And then, unfortunately, you’re not allowed to go all the way up. Too bad, because the view is said to be spectacular. You mustn’t be afraid of heights… So… who dares and will join me someday?
