Why San Antonio is so cool
Upon hearing the name San Antonio on Ibiza, many people get the jitters: 'Why would you to there!?' But did you know that this place is actually really fun? There's something for everyone, not just for the party people.
To start with the most famous: a visit to Café del Mar is a must. This world-famous café is located on the well-known Sunset Strip and it's nice to walk by during the day in the sunshine. The best time to be there is, of course, during sunset. Whether you're sitting at a table or standing on the rocks, it's a spectacle at the end of the day. Moreover, you can almost unnoticed walk to Café Mambo, also cool to visit!
Egg of Columbus
A much-photographed spot in San Antonio: the Egg of Columbus. If you enter the city from the south, you can't miss this artwork. The gigantic, white egg stands in the middle of the roundabout at the beginning of the city's main street. Inside the egg is a model of the Santa Maria, Columbus's ship.
The colorful fountain
The iconic fountain is located near the Egg of Columbus and is on the square Passeig de ses Fonts, where you can also find various restaurants. It's nice to eat or drink something here during the day and a must to visit again in the evening. Then the colorful lights of the fountain turn on, and you don't want to miss this. Moreover, the area around the fountain is fun to wander around in the evening because of the lively atmosphere, countless souvenir shops, and stalls full of handmade souvenirs.
Boat trips to picturesque bays
A fun activity when you are on Ibiza: take a boat trip. From San Antonio, several boats depart daily to the most beautiful beaches and bays. Do you choose to visit Cala Bassa and Cala Conta? Or would you rather dock at Cala Saladeta? Either way, you can take a dip in the sea and usually snorkel. Drinks are often included, along with some small snacks.
Neon and nightclubs
Almost naturally, there is also a lot of neon to be found in this place. Alongside the very prominent slingshot, there are two large clubs along the main road: Eden and Es Paradis. Along the boulevard, you can choose from several very lively bars. If you want to go all out with as much alcohol as possible, then The West End might be for you. Fast food chains are also not missing from San Antonio's streetscape. Handy for a snack after an evening of drinks.
Ibiza Rocks
For those who prefer not to go to bed too late, there's Ibiza Rocks. In this hotel, it's always a party with DJs, confetti, and dancers. The party starts during the day and usually ends by 9:00 PM. So you can either go to bed or get ready for another party. Do you find it too hot to party during the day? You can swim here! And a surprising detail for lovers of this color: almost everything is... pink!
The Concept Hotels
You'll find even more pink in the sugary concept hotels. Some hotels are a bit out of the center, but you're there in no time, and these hotels are really coolly decorated! Imagine yourself in Cuba during a stay at Cubanito and pretend you're on Ocean Drive in Miami at Paradiso Art Hotel. Or would you prefer Romeo's Motel & Diner, inspired by the Love Motels along Route 66? Cinema and audiovisual art take center stage at Grand Paradiso Ibiza, and Los Felices Ibiza is dedicated to the world of fashion.
Walking, karting, and more
If you like to take a walk during the holiday, stroll along the long promenade in the evening that goes on endlessly. On one side, you can walk up to Playa es Pouet, and on the other side, up to Calo des Moro. Also recommended during the day due to the spectacular views. Last but not least: just outside the center is Ibiza Karting San Antonio. You can bribe your children with this if you want to see more of the island and they don't really feel like it, but still have to come along.
So...? Have I convinced you yet?
